The Taranaki Daily News is the local paper and has a comprehensive cover of local, national and international news and photographs. It is one of only eight morning newspapers in New Zealand and one of the largest provincials. The Taranaki Daily News boasts one of New Zealand's largest market penetration with a massive 73%.
A major revamp of the content and look of the newspaper has been carried out and lead to a raft of design accolades in several premier news media awards in the following years as well as a series of individual awards for literary excellence.
Recognising the impact of farming in the region and coupled with strong advertising support, The Taranaki Daily News is able to devote much to the news generated from this area of activity. The regular weekly Thursday Farmer section is the largest of any newspaper in New Zealand.
