Waikato Regional Community Newspapers
In 2004 Waikato Regional Community Newspapers (WRCN) was formed out of what was Independent Community Newspapers (ICN). This new group, centred around the daily Waikato Times, concentrates on the strong and vital wider Waikato community.
WRCN incorporates; Franklin County News, North Waikato News, Hauraki Herald, Hamilton Press, Cambridge Edition, Piako Post, Matamata Chronicle, South Waikato News, Rotorua Review, Taupo Times and Ruapehu Press.
Combined these community papers have an audited circulation of 192,445. In addition these papers publish several monthly publications aimed at farmers, rural life-stylers and tourists.
While the company's principal business is community newspapers, niche market publications and commercial printing (at Taupo and Hamilton) make a valuable contribution.
In April 2000 WRCN purchased the A-Z local directory business. Target Marketing annually publishes 17 business directories throughout the North Island in Taupo, Upper Hutt, Rangitikei, Thames/Coromandel, Matamata-Piako, Horowhenua, South Taranaki, South Waikato, Franklin, Ruapehu, Waitomo, Hibiscus Coast/Kumeu, Kapiti, Manawatu, Rotorua, Tararua and Waipa.
